HELPING HANDS

Helping Hands is a Calvary Hill Ministry dedicated to serving adults with special needs at our Church and in our community. We meet the last Thursday of each month from 7:00 to 9:00 pm for fun and fellowship in a Christian environment. Our guests come from Church and community families and from area group homes. Each month we have dinner followed by crafts and recreational activities. This provides an excellect opportunity for both our guests and volunteers to have a great time, form lasting bonds, and share our Lord's love through word and action.

Please consider joining us. We need volunteers to assist in meal preparation, crafts, games, visiting with guests, and with clean-up. This is also an opportunity for youth who need community service hours.

SERVICES FOR THE LAMB CENTER

The lamb Center is a partnership of local congregations serving the poor, homeless, and addicted in Fairfax.

Once each month we make ham and cheese sandwiches and provide fruit for the Lamb Center located at 3220 Old Lee Highway in Fairfax City. The sandwiches are delivered the first Thursday of each month so are made the previous Tuesday or Wednesday. For the current schedule, click on calendar.

We make about 120 sandwiches. With two or three volunteers this takes about one hour and 20-30 minutes. More than three people is probably counterproductive.

The sandwich making also involves two additional volunteer opportunities. One is the purchase of the food at Costco, and another is the delivery to the Lamb Center around noon on the first Thursday of each month.

Calvary Hill Church helps to collect supplies for the Lamb Center. Contact the Church Secretary if you would like to serve as the facilitator for the Calvary Hill contribution to the Lamb Center needed supplies drives.

MANICURE SERVICES FOR LEEWOOD NURSING HOME

Join us in our volunteer activities at Leewood Nursing Home in Annandale. On the second and fourth Wednesday each month we provide manicure services from 10:00 to 12:00 pm. It is such a blessing serving these residents and a lot of fun. The ladies have a great time selecting nail colors while the men opt for a simple clean and buff. Not to worry if you have no experience for we have a certified beautician that will teach you everything you need to know.
